Getting to the root cause of hypoactive sexual arousal and desire disorder has proven to be impossible in our standard American model of medicine. Science informs us that satisfying sexual function is considered an important marker for a happy life, fulfilling relationships, and overall health. Yet, fewer than 35% of primary caregivers even ask patients about libido and sexual function. Even more distressing is the lack of efficacious interventions for men and women with low sexual desire. Functional Sexology offers a new framework for understanding sexual function, provides an easy-to-use decision tree, and creates an opportunity for real healing of sexual dysfunction.
